Integrative Counselling in Basingstoke

About Me

Hello, I'm Cathy, a qualified Integrative Counsellor based in Basingstoke. I'm dedicated to supporting people to improve their emotional well-being and achieve personal growth. As a counsellor, I combine my professional training with insights gained from over 17 years of experience in education. This background enhances my ability to understand and support clients of all ages.

My Journey

My counselling journey began while studying drama at university, where I explored the positive impact of creative approaches on young people's mental health. This experience ignited a lifelong passion that guided me into a career in education and ultimately into counselling.

Through my training and employment, I have gained valuable experience in various settings, including clinical placements at youth and adult counselling agencies, as well as pastoral roles in educational settings. This diverse background has allowed me to work closely with people of all ages and backgrounds, expanding my knowledge, skills, and professional competence. My work in educational settings has significantly informed my counselling practice, enriching my understanding and equipping me with the skills and expertise necessary for my growth as a counsellor.

Alongside my private practice, I continue to work in education as an Infant School ELSA, helping children develop emotional awareness and well-being while collaborating with safeguarding teams and supporting families. I am also employed as a youth counsellor at YPI, a charity that supports young people aged 11-25, and collaborate with Victoria's Promise, a charity dedicated to helping women and their families affected by cancer. Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to work alongside external agencies such as CAMHS, Children's Services, and The Family Support Service, further enhancing my ability to support clients with complex needs.
