Integrative Counselling in Basingstoke

About Me

Hello, I'm Cathy. I am a qualified Integrative Counsellor based in Basingstoke, where I provide a safe and understanding space for people of all ages and backgrounds. My approach is grounded in empathy and compassion, and I strive to create an environment where you feel truly heard, respected and supported as a unique individual. As a counsellor, I combine my professional training and experience with insights gained from over 17 years of experience within educational settings.

My Journey

My counselling journey began while studying Drama at The University of Winchester, where I explored the positive impact of creative approaches on young people's mental health and wellbeing. This experience ignited a lifelong passion that guided me into a career in education and ultimately into counselling.

Through my training and practice, I have gained valuable experience in a variety of settings. This has included work in both youth and adult counselling agencies, as well as pastoral roles in schools. I have worked as a Youth Counsellor, a Student Inclusion Worker and an infant school ELSA and have provided counselling support for charities, including YPI Counselling and Victoria's Promise. This diverse background has allowed me to work closely with people of all ages and backgrounds, expanding my knowledge, skills, and professional competence. My work in educational settings has significantly informed my counselling practice, enriching my understanding and equipping me with the skills and expertise necessary for my growth as a counsellor.

Alongside my private practice, I continue to work in education as a Secondary School Counsellor. This role fuels my passion for supporting young people and providing a space where they can feel truly heard, accepted and understood. I strongly believe in the importance of early intervention and accessible support, and feel immensely grateful to be able to offer this vital service within a school setting.
